  • Nancy E. Hammond, 82, of Oden, AR passed away July 27, 2018 in Mena, AR surrounded by her family that she loved dearly. She was born December 27, 1935 in Tampa, Florida to the late Henry and Lucille Frink Laird.  She is preceded in death by both her parents, 2 brothers Harry Laird and Bob Laird, a sister Jeanette Sickafus, grandson Brett Wheeler and great granddaughter Lillian Wheeler and one son in law Johnnie Keeton. Nancy was an employee of Montgomery County Nursing Home for years as a nurse and a poultry farmer for Keith Smith for many years.

    Survivors include her 3 Sons, Ronnie (Darlene) Wheeler, Randy Wheeler and Steve Wheeler, 3 daughters, Kathi (Rickey) Blevins, Sherri Keeton and Breanna Stovall all of Oden, AR. Grandchildren, Rian Jay Blevins, Lindsei (Daniel) Minton, Brooke (Willie) Bartel, Amy Jones, Christopher (Abby) Wheeler, Shawn (Sarah) Wheeler, Elizabeth England, Niki (Leno) Sanchez, Jay, Robert and Alicia Keeton, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, 2 special ladies she took as her own granddaughters, Shonda Hamilton and Hannah Stovall and many nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends. Pallbearers will be Shawn and Christopher Wheeler, Jay and Robert Keeton, Willie Bartel and Daniel Minton. Honorary pallbearers will be Caleb Emry and Rian Jay Blevins.

    Graveside services will be held at Oden Cemetery on August 1, 2018 at 11:00am with Bro. Arlie Francis officiating. Services under the direction of Thornton Funeral Home in Mount Ida, AR. Guest register at www.thorntonfh.com.

    Nancy always worked hard and made sure her chickens were taken care. She was good hearted and could make you laugh in almost any situation. She will be missed.
